Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway
Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, Federal Route is an expressway in Penang, Malaysia which connects George Town city to Batu Maung. This expressway is situated along the eastern coast of Penang Island, off the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It was erected on 7 December 2010 〔(Expressway renamed to honour Chong Eu ) The Star, December 7, 2010〕 in honour of the former Penang's second chief minister and also the 'Architect of Modern Penang', Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu who died on 24 November 2010.〔(Penang has renamed a highway as Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu expressway ) The Star, November 26, 2010〕 There are two sections of the expressway, the Jelutong Expressway and Bayan Lepas Expressway.
== Route background ==
The Kilometre Zero of the Federal Route 3113 starts at Batu Maung. The second elevated highway in Penang after Kuala Lumpur and Bayan Baru was under constructed at Bayan Lepas Expressway here. This long flyover will be linking the new Penang Bridge in the south straight away to Batu Feringgi, George Town, Air Itam and Bayan Baru for skipping traffic jams.
Then, the underpass under it is to travel along Bayan Lepas industrial area.
